Valiant Hearts: The Great War has kept something of a low profile. After its trailer airing at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference, we have a feeling that the World War I puzzle platformer’s profile won’t be so low anymore.

Built on the UbiArt Framework, which allows artists to directly import and use art assets in-game, Valiant Hearts follows the crossing paths of four strangers and a loyal dog as they cope with the effects of war. This is the same engine that powers the enchantingly beautiful Child of Light and it shows in the quality of the artwork.

The events in Valiant Hearts cover the entire war from 1914 to its conclusion in 1918. Historic battles from the period, including the Battle of Marme and the Battle of Somme, will make up part of the game.

Currently, Valiant Hears: The Great War is set for release on June 25 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. It will be priced at $14.99 / £11.99 / 14.99. We’re not sure exactly how the puzzle elements in the game will play out, but we expect more details will come out of E3 in the coming days. In the meantime check out the sobering E3 trailer.
