In a spectacular finish to their E3 stage show, Ubisoft and Ubisoft Montreal proudly showed extensive gameplay footage of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege’s multiplayer. This was shortly followed by a press release, detailing Siege and the new features it is bringing to the next long awaited installment of the Rainbow Six franchise.

Demoed on stage was a new gameplay mode titled Siege Mode, which saw two teams of five facing off against each other in different combat scenarios. The enemy team have a set-up phase where they are able to transform the environment around them and turn it into a defensive fortress to guard against the breach team. Conversely, the breaching team will have their own setup phase where they can use small drones and tactical maps to plan their entrance into the stronghold, adding a deep level of strategic play to both sides.

Once set up, the breach team will have to use the power of Ubisoft Montreal’s Realblast engine to destroy enemy defensive structures. The Realblast engine promises to add an unprecedented ability for players to destroy the environments around them to create new pathways and firing lanes. During the demo, the house that the mission takes place in is completely destroyed by gunfire and grenade detonations.

Here is a look at the stage demo provided by Ubisoft. Let’s hope the final product is as impressive as their pre-alpha footage.
