If you live in Europe and you’re thinking of picking up an Xbox One in time for the May 19th release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you might be interested to know that Microsoft has announced that it plans to launch two new Xbox One Bundles, containing the console and a code to download the digital version of the game.
Here’s what the box looks like:
There are two bundles: one with Kinect, and one without. Inside, you’ll get a standard Xbox One console, wireless controller, HDMI cable and power supply and your game download code.
Sadly, there are no custom faceplates for the control and it’s a standard Xbox One model, so if you’re a megafan of CD Projekt RED’s RPG series then you’re out of luck. During PAX East last month, Microsoft held a competition where fans could find themselves walking away with a custom Witcher 3 Xbox One console. A similar competition was held for a custom controller featuring a range of unique designs inspired by various Xbox One games, including a Witcher 3 controller. Rather nice it was, too, as you can see in the picture on the left (the Witcher 3 controller is the one the bottom row at the far right).
The new Witcher 3 bundle will be available from £310 in the UK, which is rather good value for money when you consider you also get a free game with the console. Prices in other countries will vary from region to region.
If you’re interested in snapping up the bundle, you can check the Xbox Store for pricing and availability where you are.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the third and final installment in CD Projekt RED’s trilogy of RPGs, which started with the launch of the first game on PC back in 2007. While plans for a 2009 console version were scuppered, Xbox 360 and PS3 owners did get to play the sequel, Assassin of Kings, when it launched in May 2011. In The Witcher you play as Geralt, a mutant monster hunter hated and feared by locals for his supernatural abilities, but who frequently finds himself called on to provide assistance with handling various beastly incursions. The series is known for its branching narrative and difficult moral quandries. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt RED lets you play in a vast open world featuring over 200 hours’ worth of gameplay.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released on May 19th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
