The very first secret character in the Mortal Kombat franchise, Reptile, has just been announced for the upcoming Mortal Kombat X.
Reptile was originally a cross between Sub-Zero and Scorpion (blue+yellow=green), and fully capable of the moves of both characters. This all changed in Mortal Kombat 2 when he was given his own dedicated slot and move set, as oppose to simply being a fun little secret to wipe the floor with. His appearance changes from game to game, and this time round he’s gone full-blown lizard, complete with the acid attacks and invisibility moves we all know and love, and an improved tongue attack. Reptile’s tongue could always take a man’s (or woman’s – he doesn’t discriminate) head clean off at a dozen paces. Now he can lift and hold that same person in the air by their feet and give them a good lashing.
The trailer, shown below, also features the recently confirmed Kung Lao. NetherRealm Studios have even been kind enough to show us one of Reptile’s fatalities, which not only shows off the full extent of Reptile’s acid with gruesome melted flesh , but gives you the same skull-smashing satisfaction we have come to expect from the MK franchise.
