Warlords of Draenor might be about to give World of Warcraft a shot in the arm, but it’s not the only MMO to receive a major content drop this week: the third – and largest so far – update for the rather-excellent WildStar has been released into the wild, titled Mystery of Genesis Prime.
Mike Donatelli, Product Director at developer Carbine Studios, said of the update (via a press release): “It’s been a long time coming, but I think the players will be pleased with the direction WildStar is heading. We’re focusing on the needs of our players above all else, and making sure we take our motto, ‘Play the way you want to play,’ to heart. In a nutshell, that’s the future of WildStar.”
The update brings new lore, new quests, new zones, and new treasures to the sci-fi MMO, in addition to bug fixes, changes to the Runecrafting system, “quality of life” updates, and alterations to raid content to make them simultaneously more accessible and more profitable. Even in summary, it seems like a lot, but there is a truly impressive amount of content added and changed in the full patch notes. However, the long and short of it is that this update promises to be big and meaty for players of all types and interests.
Given WildStar‘s original purpose to be a distinctive and action-packed title in an already brimming MMO landscape, which it successfully achieved, a content patch as large as this one is certainly good news for existing players or old fans looking to jump back in. The added accessibility also makes new players working their way into the game for the first time on a better footing to get into the high level play, and the new maps are certainly sure to excite explorers and lore enthusiasts.
